Priorities, Budgets and You

February 21st, 2010
You cannot set out on a safari of happiness in life without financial strength because money is one of the tools that could facilitate your journey. Money management is the key to finding financial freedom and it’s nothing more than fixing a budget and adhering to it assiduously.
Payment of monthly bills without a budget is indeed regularly done but if you have a budget, setting limits on your expenses and going by these limits strictly, you will find that your savings every month could increase by leaps and bounds. With this increased saving strategy, you can plan a smashing vacation, join a prestigious club, or plain enjoy the best things in life.
Budgeting is done by weighing the magnitude of your priorities and then placing them on their appropriate position in the list. But this list is sure to vary from person to person because priorities do vary from one individual to another. But there are some common priorities like having a home or a car. In such priorities, you can procure either an expensive SUV or a mansion, or your choice cold be something inexpensive but comfortable. Know, however, that a cost-efficient choice could lead to savings that could be used for rainy days.
Establishing new priorities must also be given adequate consideration. You may wish to add a new expense or a new savings to your catalog of priorities. This one you’ll have to include in your budget every month without fail otherwise it won’t be a priority at all. So as not to be neglectful, you can convert this expense or savings as automated payments. If it isn’t feasible, you can work remember to remember these payments or include them in the payment list of every month. If you successfully make these payments for a few months, you can be sure that you won’t miss them anymore.
Reviewing the budget as often as possible will prove to be a very good exercise in money management. This is because priorities undergo quick changes according to circumstances, your lifestyle or even changes in your routine. Trifling changes such as dieting or discovering a shorter route to your office could revise your priorities and hence reviewing the budget from time to time will make your budgeting exercise meaningful.
