2010 WSOP Schedule Leaked Online

January 4th, 2010

The 2010 World Series of Poker schedule, normally not announced by Harrah’s until January, was revealed in mid-November 2009 at two web sites, TwoPlusTwo.com and PocketFives.com poker forums. It is not known how the web site obtained the information, which has been removed from the web sites.

However, WSOP fans got a glimpse of what to expect in 2010. If the information leaked is true, then WSOP poker players can expect the following events:

* Eight separate $1,000 event. In 2009, there was only one at this level, the “Stimulus Special,” and it drew over 6,000 players. Two of the $1,000 events are closed fields since they are Ladies Only and Senior Only contests.

* The traditional $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. event has been scrapped and replaced with a “Player’s Championship” with the same buy-in amount. It is scheduled to be the first open field event of the year. The details are not available on how this event will be structured.

* A Six-Handed No-Limit tournament with a $25,000 buy-in has been added and will take place a few days before the Main Event.

* The Main Event itself will start the week after the July 4th U.S. holiday. Last year, the holiday interfered with registration numbers because players did not want participate during the holiday weekend, and this created a crush of registrants afterwards and Harrah’s had to turn players away.
