Information You Should Know about B.tox Injections
October 31st, 2009Please visit this fantastic resource for Sydney Botox guidelines.
Sydney Botulinum treatment (BoTox for short) has become important amongst stylish Sydney society and these days it has become an essential part of grooming for people in the Harbour City.
But I am always amazed when I listen to the ridiculous urban legends in connection with this treatment. Here I have included a few of the myths that we hear daily in Star Cosmetic Medicine, where I practise as a physician.
Delusion no. 1: I will not have the ability to use my facial muscles normally!
Below the skin of the face are approximately sixty muscles. They ordinarily work in harmony, but with time fine lines may start to form. If too much BoTox has been used the muscles of expression can become moderately less taut. By and large physicians use relatively small dosages to will result in you seeming less tired, yet you will remain just as expressive.
By injecting small quantities of the wrinkle injection in exactly the right spot facial expression is retained whilst the wrinkles undergo a softening effect.
Delusion no. 2: Botulinum is toxic!
This to some extent is right. Its pharmaceutical name is Botulinum Toxin Type A. An overdose may result in a decrease in muscle tone or may cause sickness.
Chemists have a well known expression that states ‘everything is a poison - it all depends on the dose’. Any medication might make you ill in large dosages. If you drink too great a quantity of water you will die.
Delusion no. 3: BoTox will sting!
At Star Cosmetic Medicine the physician will use hypodermic needles finer than a hair. Numerous patients say that the shots are not as painful as mosquito bites. For Certain not as sore as having a regular shot.
Delusion no. 4: I will lose feeling in my face!
Not true. BoTox works primarily on the neuromuscular junction, and not on sensate nerve fibers. Only the ability to relax muscles is affected by BoTox injections.
Delusion no. 5. You cannot stop getting BoTox or else you will have even worse wrinkles than ever!
Also false.
BoTox is thought to last for up to 3 months. Any further treatments after the first consultation should be effective for a little longer. Gradually as muscle strength builds up again the lines will reappear bit by bit. Nevertheless your lines definitely won’t be more pronounced than before the treatment.
As A Matter Of Fact the lines should be be softer than if you had never undergone BoTox treatment - even if you don’t repeat the injections. Due to the fact that your skin has had a ‘wrinkle holiday’ for a few months.
