Adventures in Dating: Discover Great Expectations and Maybe they’ll Come True
June 2nd, 2009For one, I cannot say I’m terribly happy living alone and not crack a smile. But, I’m not uncomfortable with the reality of life, either. I just mention it on the blogosphere as an ear-catching detail foreshadowing what I will shortly reveal to you
A week ago today yours truly was talking to Corey, pondering about signing up for Great Expectations Dallas. As of this minute, I sit to you as a fully satisfied member of the dating service. Totally, it’s true. I like it! If you have read my old blog, you’re probably thinking, “You totally owe me an explanation.”
Well, I looked at this dating site called Great Expectations and can really get behind their approach. They’re for quality and professional singles who think dating should mean something.
Because in all honesty I’d never enjoyed or even tolerated this silly social phenomenon my friends and my family call “Dating.” I got it more than anyone should. Each night friends nagg, “You’re still single? ” and “You should date!”
“Baloney!” I reply, and playfully so. “Have you seen what’s out there?”
“Not true,” they level with me. “You have no way to know that!”
That’s just my friend (she’s the best) hah! Sandy McCarthy. She pours reality to my mind 99% of the time. Friends you can trust to offer perspective. Can’t argue with that, and I thank her for it.
Coming home to the theme of this post. As I browsed from thousands of quality singles for my first date with Great Expectations, I realized something honest. For years, I hadn’t allowed myself the greatest of emotional great expectations for dating and myself in the fun-filled path of this world. Being single isn’t so bad, specifically with healthy optimism. Holding great expectations makes a difference in dating.
